For this client, in Washington, D.C., I was hired to provide web design, PHP development, and graphic design for printed materials. They were delighted.
Innocents Lost
This project required a full Flash site with streaming video. It also featured some nifty real-time blurring effects and an ambient soundscape.
Reentry Strategies Institute
For RSI, I was hired to develop this site in Flash. I also designed all of the clients printed materials.
Browngirl Films
BGF was a fun client; a pair of female filmmakers in Brooklyn. I provided consultation, Flash design and programming. They loved the site.
Cruda Vida
This client was passionate about real estate development in tropical settings. Once again, a full-Flash site translated that passion.
Dynell Music
An up-and-coming singer from California needed a site to showcase her musical talents.
Erin Keating
I worked with Erin at Tuesday Interactive. I designed and managed a site for her. She is a good friend.
Finn Jewelry
I was contracted by Edge Lab to design a full-Flash site for two sought-after jewelry designers. XML was used to manage a series of photos.
Ingoma Foundation
Working through a project manager, I designed this logo for the Ingoma Foundation's "IngoMedia" brand.
Legare Lawrenz
This hip-hop clothing company needed a fresh, edgy design to compliment their line of casual street wear. This was a comp which never went live :(

Who is Mik Vance
Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I was born in Heidelberg, Germany, and raised in Brooklyn, New York. My first passion was comic illustration. This talent allowed me to attend prestigious New York schools such as the Philippa Schuyler School for the Gifted and Talented, and the High School of Art & Design. After high school, I worked as a freelance web designer specializing in full-Flash websites. I later enrolled in the Art & Advertising degree program at the City University of New York, CityTech. During my studies, I earned a scholarship, an invitation to the honor society, and some interesting job offers from established design agencies. I am currently looking to work with smaller agencies in New York. I will one day gladly leave behind web design in order to design characters for video games.
Work experience
I have designed websites, books and web applications for numerous clients including non-profits, entreprenuers, movie directors, authors, consulting firms, musicians, comedy groups, entertainment companies, jewelry designers, artists, family-run businesses, state contractors, dotcoms and social networking sites. Most recently, I have just finished a year working for the well-respected design agency, HUGE, as their only in-house Flash designer at the Brooklyn office. Before then, I designed web applications for Scanbuy, a mobile-phone application company. Years before, I was the senior graphic designer at Amandla, a small design boutique in New York City. I also worked as a Flash guy and web app designer for Tuesday Interactive. My skills include Photoshop, Flash, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, QuarkXPress and AfterEffects. I can hand-code HTML, CSS and Actionscript. References will be furnished upon request.
